A fantastic performance from the whole team saw LondonEnergy claim the highly coveted Vase trophy at the Waste World Cup, which was celebrating its 20th year.

The six-a-side tournament, organised by letsrecycle.com, saw 41 mixed-gender teams from across the waste sector competing in a tough day’s football with a highly charged and fun filled atmosphere. Having won two of their three pool games, the LondonEnergy team progressed into the vase competition. Subsequent victories in the quarters and semis saw the team reach the Vase final where they met a strong side from Business Waste. Another outstanding team performance, however, resulted in a comprehensive 3-1 win with goals from Adam, Klajdi and our captain Sam Rollason.

Commenting on the win LondonEnergy’s Sam Rollason said: “Having played in the Waste World cup for the last couple of years it was great to bring home a trophy to the Edmonton EcoPark. The whole team played incredibly well and it was brilliant to have so much support from our directors and other members of the LondonEnergy team who came along to cheer us on. We look forward to coming back next year to defend the Vase and maybe even win the Cup.”
